The Flight Plan

This is how I turn a crazy dream into steps you can take tomorrow morning.

The method video

Why a "flight plan"?

No pilot takes off without a flight plan

When I learned to fly, I learned that before every flight you plan: where you take off from, where you land and which waypoints you pass on the way.

So why not make dreams happen the same way?

Ever since, every dream of mine has a flight plan.

The pyramid

My method, step by step

  1. The big dream – pick one dream and put it at the top. Big and crazy.
  2. Choosing the right route – figure out what it really takes to get there. Sometimes you try it out before you commit.
  3. Writing down every step to the dream – the big stops, in order. Just the direction, not every detail.
  4. Measurable, doable mini-steps – only for the stage I’m in right now, two or three at a time.
  5. Taking off – start now, even if you don’t feel ready yet.

2 - Choosing the right route

3 - Writing down every step to the dream

4 - Measurable, doable mini-steps

5 - Taking off

The most important part

The magic happens in the mini-steps

I don’t plan everything in advance. Each time I build two or three mini-steps for the stage I’m in – so there’s room to adjust as I go.

Measurable and doable

That way I know exactly how far I’ve come, and on what.

Every check mark is a win

And small wins create momentum that pulls you forward.

Failed?

I learn, adjust and rebuild the next step.
